My Story
Hello Everyone,
I want to take a few minutes to tell you a little about this passion of mine. I am a tom girl at heart with a huge love for the k-9.
Back in 1972 my parents owned a Small german shorthair female who had a love for doing unusual things. Now this girl could do things not your normal K-9 stuff. She could climb trees, run the top of a 6 foot high block wall at mock 10 and run for 15 miles without stopping. This girl had the energy of 5 normal dogs, with the energy of 3 each... some of you might know her type? What a silly girl she could be.
Well, in 1972 I was 12. I had a great Idea for the energy this little ball of lighting had. I hooked her up to a 10 speed bike. I could barely touch the ground with one foot and she and I went for the craziest bike ride anyone had ever seen. Brakes huh what was that… The Brakes they where there, but she could Drag that Bike with them brakes LOCKED UP! So I got the bright idea to teach her to stop when I told her to Whoa!!!! And she was the best brakes that bike ever had. I could take her and go 10 miles and she never got below the speed I could Run full on, she was in hog heaven.
Well, I got board one day of the Bike and decided I wanted something new. In 1975, I built a home make Go Cart with 3 of my friends, one of which is still my Friend today.
She and I and Our 2 dogs and our other 2 friends decided to pull that Go Cart Doggy-Style!!!! Oh Yah what a way to go!!! My Dog and her Dog both Great friends, made that go Cart sing. We did things with that go Cart for 5 years… and my friends Dog was the only dog my dog would put up with. She and I and the Dogs went 15 miles to a Place way out in the Desert 15 miles 1 way from where I lived… (Stupid Kids) We decided to go and see the Park and spend the day fishing. We took those dogs out there and got back before Dark! Amazing, I would crawl out of my skin if one of my kids had done anything like that. And I was born in L.A California and that is where this took place.
Well that day has stuck with me my whole Life, like yesterday. One of the Best experiences of my Life, and the Reason I am doing this today!
I have trained over 100 K-9's Big and Small… sweet and Nasty! Some that were given away, because no one wanted to deal with them; because they had been left to their own Vises in someone's Back Yard!!! I am sure if you have or ever have had a Large Breed dog that is Board and left alone most of the time, then you can appreciate Just what I am saying.
I have some Horror Stories about Dogs that I have trained, and some I was their last hope at any kind of a Normal Life; Literally their last stop before the Grave. Now I will not tell you I helped them all, but I can tell you this, I helped all but one. He was shall we say not helpable!
I have been a Breeder in the past, with so many stories about my gains and Losses, like any good Breeder. I believe that if you train a dog and Love a Dog, you never have to worry about who he or she will become. And if they have to go and live with someone else's Family, should that Dog need to be placed with another Family for any unforeseen reason. (Life Happens) Like it or Not, and when things happen, the Dog is usually the first to go.
So my thought is this, Plain and simple… Plan for things to Happen and if it doesn't, then you have given your Dog one of the Best lives he could have ever had. But, if things happen and your Dog has to adjust to a new Family in a Moment's notice, you will be literally saving His or Her Life!!!! Work with your Dog, Love him and treat him Like a Family Member.
Dogs Love to Work, all Breeds Love to work. Now, some of them are Smaller But they DON'T KNOW THAT… Look at the Mighty Taco Bell Dog, he doesn't know he isn't 75 pounds! Just ask the Doberman he growled at this morning. But, the Taco Bell dog is not going to take 2 full grown adults out and do this sport, but he would love to ride on your Lap out there. I am merely pointing out the Fact that all dogs love to go along with you, no matter the Size. Most Large Breed dogs are Capable of Pulling 3 times their own weight on a flat normal surface. Once more they Love to do it, it gives them Purpose and a Job well done. A Job well done gives anyone a rewarding feeling, even for the Dog.
A Good friend of mine has given me the Chance to share all of this Wonderful Adventure with you and anyone you can think might have a Big Board Back Yard Dog, or a Smaller one, with Lots of Bottled up energy.
I will help you learn how to train your Loving Best Friend, and keep him on your Good side for the rest of your relationship. I do not Train Dogs for others! But, I will help people Find out if this Sport is something that might help your Buddy and your relationship Grow, and it will become very rewarding for both you and Him.
This Sport is not for the Weak (Physically and mentally) it takes many hours of Hard Work for both you and your Dog. It takes a Commitment that will be the one you signed up for when you brought that Little Cute Puppy Home to live with your Family. You are his connection to what life he has. And you have the power to make that 10 to 15 year Life span, seem like the best time you ever had.
That little Puppy you fell in love with is going to grow up and be just what you wanted him or her to be, with your Help. If you take him home and put him in the Back yard and leave him there, He will eat your Plants, Dig up your Yard; Knock your Guests off their feet when he says Hello… And do things you would not even want to have to spell. If you would like information on one of the most exciting, hard pushing, exercise program you can imagine, then give this a Try. Your Dog will be glad you did. I have met some Wonderful People enjoying this Sport with My Buddies.
I currently have 6 to my credit and will be adding another in November. I have a Doberman I trained for Carting in 2001. She is a Black and Rust with a Mind of her own!!! And she is a Ball of energy with big white teeth. (A completely Crazy Story). I have trained her to pull, and to Train for me. She is a Gift and I love being her Mom, but she has thorns.
Then there are the Malamute Kids, 7 right now, one on the way. My First Girl is my first Malamute. She came to me from Kentucky. Man is she ever a Looker, Big Girl, Lots of Class…. Stubborn, But when she puts her heart into it man that Power she has is awesome.
Then there is a Brother Sister Team out of Tennessee. The Boy took a little Coaxing, he stay behind for about a Month and cried while the others went out and saw the World!!! Then one day I decided to give him another Try. And now he Rocks!!! And then there is BLOSSOM (Windwalkers Mali Blossom) Wholly Smokes!!! She was born for this. I have haven't had the Pleasure until now, to own a Puppy so Gifted. Blossom is the real deal. She Watches my every move and Listened to my commands from the very first time she pulled for my team, she knew her Place. She will be My Dobermans replacement when she retires. (Not anytime soon if she has anything to say about it). Last but not least, at this time. Nemo. Nemo has not pulled for me yet, but he will start in October 2009. Nemo is learning the Basics and is also a Natural.
In November I will add one more Member. She is coming from one of the neatest People I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She takes exceptional Care of her Buddies. They live, shall we say the Pampered life. They are all in her home living like she does, they have beds to sleep on and spend their time with her every day. This girls Mom is a Working Dog with a Capital W. Give her a Job, and she comes to life. I have been told by her Mommy,… I don't like to walk her, she is just too strong and wants to drag me all over the Place when we walk. Give her a Job and she is a new Girl. I can't wait to see what this Girl will produce.
I hope you can see by what I have told you here in this short page, is this Sport has real meaning to me. I am in this for a Lifetime. I would love to help you train your K-9 Friends to share your life and your dreams, like mine have with me. Thank you for reading my story and I hope you will take a Closer look into one of the most enjoyable things you can learn with your Dog. Carting…………….
